Wow! That sounds pretty negative! I have to say, though, I am blessed to be at a point where I LOVE the meetings I attend! No, I haven’t stopped taking my meds – I am privileged to be a part of three organizations that have positive, motivating meetings.
When I’m not pastoring this great church, I teach middle school English. Our principal is great and focused on developing people before diving into the necessary details of education. I also serve on the Board of Directors for a camping ministry – where we focus on how we can best use the facilities to encourage and strengthen folks in their spiritual journey.
And here, at Britton Congregational, these are my FAVORITE MEETINGS! Why? Not because I enjoy crossing items off the agenda or following Robert’s Rules, but because I LOVE THE PEOPLE who are there. Sure, we’ll discuss the budget and our finite resources. We’ll look at projects we need to accomplish in the coming 12 months and even vote on the pastor (Yay me!!). But we are also looking at 12 months of growth in grace, the victories and speed bumps in our journey and how God has shown His love to each of us.
Tomorrow, September 22, is our Annual Meeting for BCCC. Some might think it’s a good time to go fishing or sleep in. Some might come just so they can earn a seat at the Potluck dinner afterwards. I look forward to it to be with God’s people in God’s house prayfully seeking God’s best for our congregation and our community.
So, be here at Britton Congregational for worship at 10am with the Annual Meeting following. Then we can enjoy each other’s company at the Potluck Dinner!
I love my church!
