So last week, Barb and I spent most of the week in Florida. We’re still trying to thaw out from the winter! Central Florida tends to be a real melting pot of cultures, ethnicities and languages. Too many times I would be hearing others talk, and could not make out what language was being spoken. I know enough Spanish, French, and German to distinguish, but I heard lots of variations, and couldn’t tell what was being said.
Except for one word. It must be some kind of universal word – the same in most languages across this globe we call Earth. What word would this be? LOVE? Nope. HATE? Nope. RESTROOM? Evidently, there is something more basic to our global human experience than love or hate or bodily necessities.
Here’s how I realized it – “Blah blah, bla blaha bla blah. Blah blah WIFI blah.”
Then a different person, in a different setting – “Yada yada, ya, daya, yada WIFI yada yada.”
So, I guess that no matter where I go in the world, I will always be able to communicate “Wifi”!
I would also guess that the second and third most needed words would be “Login” and “Password.”
