So yesterday was our Annual Meeting. Every church has to have an annual meeting (at least once a year!). The members pour over financial reports and then vote to accept them – which is like the group saying, “Yup, that’s how much we spent.” We read and accept reports from activities and committees – “Yep, we did that.” We also vote on proposals for the future – “Yup, let’s do that.”
In our church, we also vote every year on the pastor. And while I don’t know if I was approved by a landslide or by just a one vote margin (I’ll find out eventually!), I do know my contract was approved for the next 12 months.
I’m happy to be here for another year! As I keep saying, I love my church! We’re even spending this month focusing on loving our church. And, for me, loving our church is easy to do! (I cannot say that for at least one church I pastored!)
Our congregation is a great community that does life together. When one of us is hurting, the rest of us want to help. When one of us is celebrating, the rest of us join the party. When there is an event or a project, we join together and make it a success. When one family has a baby horse, everybody else stops by!!
So be encouraged! If you are a part of the Britton Congregational family, let’s look forward to the fall season and leading into Christmas. If you aren’t part of the church family and live in the area, drop on by Sundays at 10 AM. You’ll be glad you did!
Yep, I said that...
